VBS VOLUNTEER INFORMATION

VBS STATION DESCRIPTIONS

  • Hands-on fun with a group of 10 kids.  You’ll get the whole VBS experience by leading your group of kids to every station throughout the entire session with the help of one or two assistant counselors.  You’ll establish close relationships with the kids in your group by caring for them with God’s love.
  • No teaching required, but you should have a good understanding of the Bible and be able to explain the Gospel, if needed.
  • Choose the age group you prefer to work with, kindergarten through sixth grade.
  • Age requirement: College age or older.
  • Time commitment:
    ∗ Four 1-hour meetings
    (1 in May,
    1 in June,
    2 in July)
    ∗ VBS Week: 8:15am-12pm, AM Session
                            5:15-8:45pm, PM Session
  • Hands-on fun with a group of 10 kids.  You’ll get the whole VBS experience by assisting a counselor with a group of kids to every station throughout the entire session. You’ll establish close relationships with the kids in your group by caring for them with God’s love.

  • You’ll keep the volunteers’ kids (kindergarten – 3rd grade) entertained above the sanctuary while volunteers attend a meeting and devotion every day before VBS.
  • No preparation or teaching required.
  • Age requirement: High school or older.
  • Time requirement during VBS week:
    ∗ 8:00-8:45 am on Monday &
    8:15-8:45 am Tues-Fri – AM Session
    ∗ 5:00-5:45 pm on Monday &
    5:15-5:45 pm Tues-Fri – PM Session
  • You’ll care for our youngest (3-24 months) VBS’ers while their parents volunteer in the program. It’s more than babysitting – we have special VBS music and activities designed just for our little ones!
  • Simple preparation of Bible stories, stickers, etc may be required.
  • Age requirement: High school or older.
  • Time commitment:

  • Preschool is SO FUN at VBS!  We have special VBS music and activities designed just for preschool, including music, crafts, Bible stories and games.

  • Help make God’s Word come ALIVE for children at this station.  Your drama team will conduct skits and help set up a scene each day to convey the daily Bible lesson.
  • Age requirement: Jr high or older.
  • Time commitment:

    ∗ Skit practice and station decoration with the team as needed 1-2 weeks before VBS
    ∗ VBS Week: 8:15am-12pm, AM Session

  • Want to turn the church into a Shipwrecked canvas?  If you love being creative and decorating to make kids’ eyes pop, this is the spot for you!
  • Age requirement: High school or older.
  • Time commitment: 3-10 hours the week before VBS (or more if you want to start earlier).
  • Fa la la la la VBS style!  Our VBS songs specifically go with our Shipwrecked curriculum and are so much fun.  You’ll be dancing along to music videos up on stage while kids mimic your moves.
  • Age requirement: High school or older.
  • Time commitment:

    ∗ Music practice with the team 3-8 hours during the month or the week before VBS
    ∗ VBS Week: 8:15am-12pm, AM Session
                             5:15-9:00pm, PM Session
  • Many preparations must be made ahead of time to create an AWESOME VBS!!!  You’re the ones we need for this task!  If you can prepare name tags, craft materials, decor, etc the week (or two or three or four!) before VBS, we’d love your help.
  • Age requirement: College or older.
  • Time commitment: 3-15 hours, as you’re available, at the church or at your home.
  • What could be more fun at VBS than showing kids how much God loves them by creating *fun and educational gizmos*?? Your team will assist groups of 10 kids with their daily experiment or creation.
  • No preparation or teaching required.
  • Age requirement: Jr high or older.
  • Time commitment:

    ∗ Station preparation with the team 3-5 hours the week before VBS

  • What fun to help kids remember Bible stories by playing GAMES!!  Your station will lead games for several groups of 10 kids in the gym or outside, interacting with them to reinforce each day’s theme.
  • Age requirement: Jr high or older.
  • Time commitment:

  • Let’s get cookin’! Your team with be preparing VBS-themed refreshments for kids as they rotate through your Tropical Treats station, 20 minutes at a time.  You even prepare special snacks for the volunteers to enjoy.
  • Responsibilities may include cutting fruit, making coffee, popping popcorn, etc.
  • Age requirement: Jr high or older.
  • Time commitment:

    ∗ Snack preparation with the team 1-2 hours the Sunday before VBS

  • Do you have a welcoming and hospitable personality?  Your team will be greeting kids and their families as they arrive at VBS the very first day, handing out name tags and answering simple questions regarding the event. You will make sure each child is securely signed out to the appropriate family members or friends at the close of each day.

If you are signing up to be a VBS volunteer, first click and read our Statement of Faith, Standards for Leadership and Applicant’s Statement below. You will be asked to acknowledge that you have read these documents as part of the online application process.

READ THIS FIRST:  If you have not received an email stating that you are a pre-approved EFCC Children’s Ministry volunteer, this is not the form for you.  Please select either the Adult Volunteer Application or the Youth Volunteer Application to proceed.

  2. If you have never volunteered with any EFCC Children’s Ministry activity OR you have volunteered but haven’t completed a Live Scan background check, you will need to fill out a Children’s Ministry Volunteer Application located below before you proceed to choose your VBS volunteer Station. You can fill it out online or you can download the PDF version, print it out and bring the completed application to the church office or the first VBS meeting you attend.
  3. When you complete the application, there is a question in the upper right corner that asks, “Are you volunteering for VBS?” just above the Continue button. When you answer Yes, you will then be sent to the Shipwrecked Volunteer Sign Up form where you can choose your VBS Station.

  2. If you have never volunteered with any EFCC Children’s Ministry activity OR you haven’t filled out a Children’s Ministry Volunteer Application after 1/1/18, you need to do that first. You can find the Application below and complete it online — or you can download the PDF Application to print it, fill it out and bring it (along with your written parent and pastor references) to the church office or first VBS meeting you attend.
  3. Once your application has been approved, the VBS Director will send you an email with the link to sign up as a volunteer for Shipwrecked VBS!
